What awaits the world and America in 2013? With just several weeks left in 2012, the world is faced with increasing tensions that are building up day by day. These tensions include the economic tensions of the EU debt crisis and the drowning western economies gasping for air, as well as the geopolitical tensions between world super powers the United States, Russia, and China as the pugnacious U.S. and its gang of nations are preparing for another war with quarrelsome Iran and its gang of nations by imposing sanctions on Iran and maintaining their occupation of foreign lands.

Furthermore in America there are increasing political tensions as the 2012 U.S. Presidential election ended with the Democratic incumbent President Barack Obama winning a second term in office. A record amount of campaign money was amassed and  spent throughout the year by both campaigns trying to convince the bewildered American public to vote for a political leader that will continue to lead America away from the certainty of the Constitution and Bill of Rights to the uncertainty of the brave new world. As a result of the direction in which the U.S. is heading, many states have started the process of petitioning for secession  from the Federal government of the United States.

There are also increasing social tensions between the rich owners of capital and the relatively poor laborers; between the increasingly intrusive government and the increasingly aware citizens; between the unseen elite and the many commoners under hidden surveillance. How long before the current global economy reaches its melting point and the nations of the world and its people reach their boiling point that will culminate in another world war, mass civil unrest, and widespread martial law?

On September 11th, 2001 America and the whole world were forever changed by the heinous attacks that occurred on that eventful day. On that day the American economy took a hit that has reverberated to today’s bleak economic situation due impart to the expansion of the U.S. Government and the U.S. national debt. Ever since 9/11, the skyrocketing U.S. national debt has gone hand in hand with a government that has grown and spent without restriction for the sake of the War on Terrorism fought at home through increased surveillance and security measures and fought abroad via the Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan , and  the extensive United States global military presence.

To many 9/11 is comparable to the Pearl Harbor attacks of December 7th, 1941 which caused the United States to enter World War II. Besides these two events being major transformational events in the modern history of America and the world, these two events share an unlikely uncanny link of being events that occur during the Year of the Snake of the Chinese calendar.

The Chinese calendar, which is the lunar and solar calendar that divides the years amongst the twelve animals of the Chinese zodiac (Rat, Ox Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, Pig), has been used by astrologers to give horoscopes or predictions based on an individual’s birth in relation to the current year. Instead, the methodology that will be used for the analysis and predictions in this article is to observe the events that occurred during the Snake years during the past century and then identify certain trends within these events in order to project what will occur in 2013.

The  current Year of the Dragon will be succeeded by the Year of the Snake. The dragon is a considered to be a symbol of transformation due  to the dragon being an entity associated with destruction and renewal. The snake, also a symbol of transformation, is also associated with monumental change due to the way in which a snake sheds the outer layer of skin and  because it was the snake who influenced the great fall of man in the Garden of Eden as told in the Book of Genesis of  the Bible.

By viewing recent history through the Chinese zodiac calendar we see a pattern of the Snake year being the year of major change and transformation in society due to the release of new ground-breaking technology to the public and also key political  events that influence future political policy. Therefore the events that have occurred during the Snake years have become historically significant. In the 20th century, the Year of the Snake has been a year that has had marked significant scientific / technological advancements, as well as epic historical events that have had a profound impact on our society. The recent political historical evidence seems to suggest the Dragon and Snake years  are years associated with major death and destruction which falls in line with the Judeo-Christian Bible portrayal of  the Snake and Dragon as symbols of Satan, the evil destroyer (Rev. 12:9).  The recent historical evidence of science and technology also suggests the  Dragon and Snake years are also associated with wisdom and knowledge, a view that is also held by some ancient occult / gnostic societies such as Free Masonry.

Below you will find highlighted the major scientific, political, and religious events that have occurred during the Snake Year in the 20th and 21st century. The following events were found on www.wikipedia.org and  www.historyorb.com . After the list of events, you will find an analysis of the presented list of events.

Analysis:

As you can see above the major historical events that changed the lives of millions of Americans and people from all of over the world occurred during the Snake Year of the Chinese Zodiac Calendar. In terms of war, the Snake year has been a year when a major conflict has either started or ended in the United States; The entry of the United States into WWI and WWII, the end of the Korean War,  the start of the Cold War and the Vietnam War,  the end of Cold War, and  the  start of the War on terrorism, and the War in Afghanistan all occurred during the Snake year. Based on the current pattern of events that have occured during a Snake year, it is quite probable that in 2013 the United States will be involved in another major conflict, and from the news reports of the past several years it seems that a new World War is brewing ,especially now with the recent trade of rocket attacks between Israel and Hamas. Another pattern within the pattern of war is the pattern of significant catastrophic events that have occured during the Snake Year which are used as a justification to garner support for war. There has to be a catastrophic event in order to spark a conflagration  of armed forces such as  the Sinking of the US liner Housatonic, Pearl Harbor,   and 9/11 attacks all occurred during the Snake Year. The Gulf of Tonkin incident which was the motivation behind the Vietnam War occurred during the Dragon Year of (1964).

Along side these patterns there is also a pattern of social revolutions, and social upheaval of governments that have also occurred during a Snake Year such as the Russian revolution 1905, the Bolshevik revolution, Stock market crash of 1929( the beginning of the Great Depression), the beginning of the Cuba revolution, Tiananmen Square, The Fall of the Berlin Wall, all occurred during the Snake year. Based on the past historical events that occurred during a Snake Year, it is highly probable that in 2013 we see a social revolution that will pale in comparison to the Arab Spring and the occupy movement, which were two significant social revolutions of the past couple of years. It is possible that the recent outcome of the 2012 US Presidential election can spark this said revolution and thus causing a series of events in which the American people and the people of the world have never seen before. As mentioned earlier on in this article, there has been a recent call for secession by  20 states to leave the United States Federal government.

Also in terms of the economy, due to the excessive printing of money out of thin air by the Federal Reserve for the last few years in order to keep the US economy and the global economy afloat, it is quite possible in 2013 we can start seeing the ramifications of the quantitative easing policy by seeing a significant decline in the value of the dollar, and thus widespread inflation. It is also interesting that in 2013 the Federal Reserve has proposed that it will reclassify Gold as a zero-risk tier-1 asset. Combine the Fed’s proposed reclassification with the new international banking regulation Basel III, which requires banks around the world to have more tier-1 assets on hand, then it causes analysts to predict that gold prices will soar. Another sky-rocket increase in the price of gold will go hand-in-hand with a colossal collapse in the value of the US dollar. This can spark another a depression  that will pale in comparison to the Great Depression in the 1930’s.  The Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke, an Academic expert on the economic period of the Great Depression, has already announced that he will step down from his position in 2013. Also, the infamous universal healthcare law “Obamacare” will go into effect in 2013 and as a result many companies are starting to prepare for their increased healthcare costs by announcing an increase in the prices of products and services , hiring freezes and reduction of work hours for employees.

Another important pattern seen is that not only does a Snake Year coincide with major political and social events, but it also coincides with major science/ technological innovations. The announcement of the  discovery of E=MC2, the early discovery of wireless technology, the introduction of color TV and color movies, the discovery of plutonium, DNA, the launch of the PC and GPS, are all tied to the Year of the Snake. All of the mentioned scientific and technological innovations have had profound impacts on the daily lives of the billions of people on this planet and on the way in which governments interact with their citizens and with other governments. In the next snake year 2013, a major technological innovation already slated for release is Google’s augmented-reality glasses codenamed “Project Glass.” Another major advancement in transportation is already slated for a 2013 launch date and that’s Virgin Galactic’s 1st private-commercial  space flight service. Also it is highly probable that in 2013 there will be a ground-breaking scientific discovery about our reality that we have never known before. This scientific discovery will have profound implications on how society will view the state of affairs in the world.

Another  pattern of note is the important religious events that occur during the Snake Year, especially in the Roman Catholic Church. In the last 100 years, the two important events that have shaped the Roman Catholic Church were the apparition of the Virgin Mary in Fatima, Portugal and the Vatican Council II, which started October 11th ,1962 and ended December 8th, 1965. These two events are important because the apparition of the Virgin Mary at Fatima started to bring the Catholic Church to the forefront in the public on a global stage.  Vatican Council II addresses the increased exposure of the Catholic Church to the masses by changing the language of the Catholic mass from Latin to the language of the locality in which the Catholic mass takes place, thus causing the Catholic Church to be more accessible to the people of the world. Other important events in the last 100 years that are of significance to the Roman Catholic Church occurred during the Snake year such as when the Roman Catholic Church became a sovereign political state(1929) ;  Pope Paul VI became the first Pope to travel to the Western Hemisphere (1965) ; and Pope John Paul II became the 1st Pope to enter a Mosque(2001) . It is interesting to note that the Roman Catholic Church is currently in the middle of a new evangelization event entitled “Year of Faith” which began recently on  October 11th, 2012, and ends November 24th, 2013. (Note:10/11/2012 was the 50th anniversary of the beginning of Vatican Council II).  It is highly probable that during the next Snake year in 2013, we could see another major apparition of a religious entity, which will bring the Roman Catholic Church to forefront in the media and in the minds of the public. It is also highly probable that there will be another major change within the Roman Catholic Church; due to globalization and the ecumenical movement (movement for the unification of the world’s religions) , it is possible that we see Roman Catholic Church publicly announce the merger of the Roman Catholic Church with other major denominations. As a result, it is possible Pope Benedict XVI will become the first pope to change his name and  become the leader of the first truly global/ universal religion.

With all the information I have presented, there is still an important question left unanswered and that is why these events of historical magnitude occur during the Snake Year? One answer is that there is an unseen hand-guiding the events through out history. This invisible-hand that guides the events throughout history points to existence of a God, or an invisible entity, which is in control of all events that occur on earth. No matter how random or spontaneous human historical events seem to be to mankind, there is always a reason why things happen the way they happen and when they happen; The  life of a human being is the sum of all the events that occurred in his or her life up until the present and in the same way history is the sum parts of all the events that have occurred up until the present. The previous statement seems trite and obvious to many people, but we  as human beings have become so consumed with the present  that we fail to consider or focus on the events of the past, which guide us to make accurate predictions about the future. The aforementioned concept has been illustrated in this article; by viewing the previous events that occurred during the Snake years in the 20th and early 21st century, we can view certain reoccurring historical patterns during the Snake years and based on these historical patterns, we can make a highly-educated guess of what awaits us in 2013 the Year of the Snake.

  1. Correlation does not imply causation.

    • I know correlation does not imply causation. I imply there is a strong correlation between the snake years with historically significant events through out the 20th century. At the end, I try to explain why the correlation exists, and why are these significant historical events are not as random as one would think. So to make things clear, I am not saying the Snake years cause these events to occur, but I am saying there is something in the universe that is causing this correlation.

      • “It is also highly probable that there will be another major change within the Roman Catholic Church”

Pope Francis was clearly that ‘major change’. But as you’re probably aware, if anything ‘catastrophic’ were to take place, it would be sometime during these last 4 months.
